What you’ll own
• Implements and administers network security controls to protect company systems, applications, users, and information from unauthorized access, compromise, or disruption.
• Supports secure access and network security platforms, including Secure Web Gateway (SWG), Proxy, SASE, Secure Access, IPS/IDS, and related firewall security capabilities.
• Administers and maintains security technologies such as Zscaler ZIA/ZPA, Palo Alto Networks Panorama, NGFW, Prisma Access, Threat Prevention, and similar enterprise security platforms.
• Designs, configures, and maintains security policies for internet access, private application access, SSL inspection, traffic steering, threat prevention, and secure user connectivity.
• Researches and analyzes attempted efforts to compromise security controls and recommends corrective actions, tuning opportunities, and long-term solutions.
• Troubleshoots and resolves security-related issues involving proxy access, SSL inspection, secure application access, SASE policy enforcement, threat prevention, and network connectivity.
• Participates in incident mitigation activities and supports response efforts for high-severity issues affecting secure access and network security services.
• Maintains security systems and administers security policies to control access to company systems, applications, and network resources.
• Maintains and supports firewall-adjacent controls, IPS/IDS capabilities, and applicable encryption and inspection technologies.
• Creates and maintains information security documentation, including standards, procedures, runbooks, configuration guidance, and operational support materials.
• Completes security-related requests and changes in accordance with company requirements, change management processes, and operational procedures.
• Performs validation, testing, rollout planning, rollback preparation, and post-change review for security platform changes.
• Responds to information security-related questions and inquiries using established tools, processes, and procedures.
• Resolves and/or performs follow-through to resolve information security issues, access problems, control failures, and user-impacting security events.
• Implements and administers information security controls using enterprise software platforms and vendor security systems.
• Monitors and improves logging, telemetry, and visibility across secure access and network security platforms.
• Supports integration and refinement of security events for SIEM, operational monitoring, troubleshooting, and control effectiveness reporting.
• Identifies opportunities and executes plans to improve workflow, reduce operational noise, improve policy accuracy, and enhance platform reliability.
• Understands and communicates the business impact of security improvements, service issues, and operational changes to management and stakeholders.
• Interfaces with user community, application teams, infrastructure teams, network operations, SOC/IR, and other stakeholders to understand security needs and support secure service delivery.
• Ensures that users and technical teams understand and adhere to necessary procedures to maintain security and reliable access.
• Provides status reports on security matters, service issues, change activity, control effectiveness, and risk reduction efforts.
• Assists with vendor escalations and works with strategic vendors to resolve technical issues, improve response quality, and support durable remediation.
• Provides technical guidance and knowledge sharing to less experienced team members as needed.
• Participates in a rotating on-call schedule for incidents affecting secure access, proxy, SASE, and related network security services.
• Other related duties assigned as needed.
What you’ll bring
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
• Knowledge of network technologies including protocols, routing concepts, DNS, NAT, access control, and network design concepts
• Knowledge of security technologies including encryption, data protection, secure access, privilege access, SSL inspection, threat prevention, and zero trust concepts
• Knowledge of network security engineering, secure access design, and enterprise security operations
• Knowledge of Secure Web Gateway, Proxy, SASE, Secure Access, IPS/IDS, and firewall-related security controls
• Knowledge of Zscaler ZIA/ZPA and Palo Alto Networks technologies such as Panorama, NGFW, Prisma Access, Threat Prevention, and related platforms
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, DNS, routing, NAT, certificate handling, and secure connectivity troubleshooting
• Experience implementing, administering, and troubleshooting proxy policy, SSL inspection, traffic steering, secure application access, and threat prevention controls
• Experience supporting security controls in distributed or enterprise environments
• Experience with logging, telemetry, SIEM event integration, operational monitoring, and control effectiveness reporting
• Experience supporting incident response, escalation management, and post-incident improvement activities
• Familiarity with IPS/IDS tuning, exception handling, telemetry analysis, and false-positive reduction
• Familiarity with automation, scripting, infrastructure-as-code, or CI/CD concepts for security platforms is preferred
• Familiarity with WAF technologies such as Akamai, Cloudflare, F5 Distributed Cloud, or similar technologies is preferred
• Proficiency in time management, communications, decision making, presentation, and organizational skills
• Proficiency in planning, reporting, establishing goals and objectives, standards, priorities, and schedules
• Intermediate decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Intermediate verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization
• Ability to analyze complex issues, identify root cause, and recommend durable corrective actions
• Ability to document technical procedures, operational processes, standards, and recommendations
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders
• Ability to provide guidance, knowledge sharing, and review of technical work for less experienced staff
